Central Seed Research Station for Jute and Allied Fibres (CSRSJAF), Bud Bud, West Bengal

Central Seed Research Station for Jute and Allied Fibres was established in 1962 at Bud Bud, West Bengal. It mainly deals with production of nucleus seed, breeder seed multiplication, quality seed production and research projects on jute and allied fibres.

Mandates

  • To produce nucleus seed through maintenance breeding.
  • To multiply breeder seeds of jute, mesta and sunnhemp.
  • To produce quality seed under ICAR seed project.
  • To conduct in-house and externally funded research projects.

Ramie Research Station (RRS), Sorbhog, Assam

Ramie Research Station was established in 1960 at Sorbhog, Assam to promote research and development of ramie, one of the strongest natural fibre crops.

  • Post-harvest technology development for fibre quality.

Sisal Research Station (SRS), Bamra, Odisha

Sisal Research Station was established in 1962 at Bamra, Odisha. The station mainly deals with sisal, a natural leaf fibre crop.

  • Improvement of sisal for yield and quality.
  • Improvement of sisal against biotic and abiotic stresses.
  • Development of sustainable sisal production technology.
  • Development of post-harvest technology for sisal fibre.

Sunnhemp Research Station (SHRS), Pratapgarh, Uttar Pradesh

Sunnhemp Research Station was established in 1963 at Pratapgarh, Uttar Pradesh. It works on sunnhemp and flax crop research.
